St. Mark's Youth
Glorifying Christ in our Lives!
News
All Parents and Youth
Our Parent/Youth meeting went very well. Our new intern Nora Ingham was introduced to those that had not met her. We had an overview of what Sunday study and worship looked like and a preview of the curricula we will be using for Connec†ion Group this year, (info on curricula below). Mid-school meals will be provided by the Logos cook team and Senior high parents agreed that it would be much easier on everyone if we just collected $20 per month to pay for meals. We talked about Spring Break Mission to Camp Stoney and everyone was happy that we would not be spending four days on the road. We will explore possible Summer missions for youth for 2009, perhaps on the Navajo Reservation.

Connec†ion Group Studies for 2008-2009
We will be using curricula from Student Life Ministries in the upcoming year. Samples of a typical lesson plan will be available for you to review at the Parent and Youth Meeting. We have been using an introduction to this study since January. It is web based and very flexible to meet students’ needs. Student Life Bible Study is designed to take students on a journey through God’s Word in a way that gives them the big picture...the whole story. It is a series of studies that will open up students´ eyes to God’s mission in the world and for their individual lives. It’s designed to provide students with a solid biblical foundation over a six-year time frame.
Middle School meets Tuesday nights at 6:15, ending at 8:30. A typical night will be:
6:15-6:45 eat
6:45-7:15 games
7:15 to 8:30 Study
Senior High meets Wednesday nights from 7:00 to 9:00.
Mississippi Mission was GREAT! Everything went well, relationships were built and we also framed a house from the ground up, insulated a house and roughed in electrical and plumbing on another. There were several smaller projects accomplished also. Click on the link below to view photos from the trip.

Ravencrest Adventure Camp was totally awesome. It was cold and we got a little snow, but that only added to the fun. Besides the challenging activities like rock climbing, hiking, rope courses, camping and bicycling, we had wonderful Bible Studies, and Teachings. Our theme for the week was a Servant Life. We learned what that means as Christians, and how it all begins with a solid relationship with Christ, the ultimate servant.
A really exciting opportunity presented itself at Ravencrest this year. Wayne the director of Ravencrest came up with a plan to train future interns for summer camps. We discussed it and decided that we would offer that opportunity to some of our High School students that were with us. Bob Hill and Meredith Schuh volunteered for the program and stayed an extra week to serve other campers. After completing this week they may be able to serve as full interns in the future. If the program works well, other High School students will have the chance to train next year.
Our youth were exemplary in their behavior during our stay. They made great friends with each other and the interns and staff at camp. I was complimented often by the staff and interns at Ravencrest on the politeness and maturity that our group exhibited.
A special thanks goes to Midge, (my wonderful wife), Keith Paulus, and Shannon Hicks who volunteered their time as adult leaders for the group. They were instrumental in assuring that we all kept on track. The whole week was a blessed event, thanks be to God!
